DISCUSSION QUESTION #2

How in your life have you been influenced by your surroundings?

How in your life have you been able to overcome the circumstances or surroundings in order to achieve something in your life?

  1. You adapt to your surroundings. The way you dress, think, and live are all factors of your surroundings. Where you live, the surroundings are "the normal" and when you leave "the normal" people will look at you differently because it is different. Everybody such as schools, friends, and family enforce "the normal" and people are used to it. If you really want something, you will risk breaking "the normal." Many people will do different than their surroundings just because they want something.

  2. Many things and people affect the choices you make. There are many examples of this. First, I play baseball as a result of my dad wanting me too, also because my brother plays. The example of how is when Dylan overcame his lung disease and the people around him helped him get out of the time. These are a few examples.

  3. My friends, my family, and the media have affected my life style. I am just getting over a concussion, and in order to be completelely
healed I have to miss a concert that I have been looking forward to since the beginning of summer. Despite my feelings and anger I can always count on my teammates and coaches to help me and make me believe that I made the right decision.

  4. We are influenced by our surroundings in many ways. People have influenced us too. Friends have a very big influence on us. At sports practices some teammates bring others down by not trying or saying negative things. I have learned to ignore things that people say so that I can be the best athlete I can be. I ignored my surroundings and concentrated to achieve great things. For example, a teammate likes to sit out and not try. It makes me think sitting out is ok too but I know that it is not. I try to ignore them so that I can get better while they choose not to. By not sitting out and ignoring negative things, I have been able to win many competitions and medals.
