5 comments:

  1. Page 18: It states that, "A smallpox infection brought by the Europeans nearly annihilated the herdsmen."This shows that the Africans futures are determined by the disease they were affected which can either lead them into death, severe illness, or small effects.
Page 32: It clearly explains that a man by the name of Sisulu was determined to have Mandela as a leader for African people. This shows that after Mandela dropped out of college that his future was changed fully. He began freedom fighting with determination and perseverance. It affected him by consuming large amounts of time and effort.
Page 45: It states that Mandela was sentenced to life in jail, eluding the death penalty. This shows that because of his freedom fighting, it determined his destiny by receiving life in jail.

  2. "Humans' futures are determined by their surroundings" this statements truth is demonstrated throughout the book tree shaker, but is particularly present in the quote "the boys were expected to show no sign of fear or pin not so much as a frown until the cut was made and each shouted 'i am a man'"

  3. Demonstrating the question above, on page 32, it says "In ant case, mandela was not ready to settle down, especially with with a bride he did not love. " this goes along with the question because it shows how Nelson did not agree with some of the rules despite the fact that he was apart of the this type of culture.
