  1. This is a newspaper from February 1990, when Nelson Mandela was freed, which is what the article is about. It connects with our book, which is about Nelson Mandela. Many people were very happy when he was released, because it was a "new age of hope" for South Africans.

  3. The significance of Nelson Mandela is that he was the first black president of South Africa. He also stopped the apartheid in South Africa. He was a strong leader and that was the reason why he was able to stop the apartheid. He made some blacks and some whites equal. Some blacks are higher than whites and some whites are higher than blacks on an economical status. Even though the apartheid was stopped by Nelson Mandela there is still discrimination.
